when search engines fail
Given that search results that I get from Google and Bing deteriorate greatly due to GPT-generated content, I have prepared this page in case those two search engines lose their function as tools to find information.
There are two stores: itch.io and Steam. Recently, I have increasing trouble finding interesting games on these places. That was a lie. Both itch.io and Steam have a constant stream of game makers making games for them. I kind of envy the creativity of those people who make excellent games.
The Thinky Games’s Discord guild is a place to find rare puzzle games.
Graphomata is a game about writing non-deteterministic graph algorithms.
SS14 is a game about dying horribly in space. It is the most actively developed codebase I know to date.
Library Genesis – Books. Their recent IPFS-based download manager is interesting (sadly only available on Windows).
Sci-Hub – Papers. You can append the DOI number of a paper after the domain name to view the paper directly. Inadvertantly, this means that papers without DOI aren’t archived here.
Anna’s Archive – A group of mirrors for many kinds of resources. I sometimes have unexpected find here.
飘天文学网 – Chinese novels.
知轩藏书备份站 – Chinese novels proofread by people other than the author to ensure no typo. The original site (zxcs.me) died. Its data is recovered and now presented here.
书本网 – Chinese novels. Not sure about the quality of this one.
About the proliferation of Chinese novel sites. There was once a person selling the template of a novel sharing site and tutorial of how to take it online. Now, there are hundreds of different sites with overlapping names.
